I recently ordered Varen along with a sample of Fougere Royale 2010, the original fern scent. I gotta say, I like Varen much more! It truly has captured the spirit of the fern and its habitat. Overall, Varen reminds me a classic Geoffry Beene fragrance, being like both Grey Flannel and Bowling Green. Varen is one of the least linear fragrances I own. It begins much like Polo or Bogart, with its evergreen quality. The heart resembles the floral character of Grey Flannel. The drydown reminds me of one part Jovan Musk with the spicy smell of cedar pencil shavings. All in all, it is an excellent scent and I predict it will rise to the top of the Stirling line, alongside Executive Man. Varen is a great value for money because it smells like a very expensive cologne. It has all the longevity of an $80 designer fragrance. I look forward to its release in Spring of 2020!
