Customers praised the razor's "excellent quality" and craftsmanship with a heavy, well-knurled handle providing superior grip and control. The short, hefty design promotes proper shaving technique. Many love the open comb and aggressive head options for close shaves. Some beginners experienced irritation, and one reported thread failure after 3 years.

I’ve been using this razor pretty sporadically since I don’t always go for a complete clean shaven face for the last three years. it’s worked well for me until today when I went to put a new blade in and I found the threads were completely gone. Unfortunate, but glad I had it as long as I did I guess.
Fit and finish on the head and handle is great. I am still struggling to get a smooth, irritation-free shave, after several different brands of blades. I wouldn't recommend this for a beginner.
Good quality razor, really nice craftsmanship. The handle have a really good grip and feel. I like the small size, the shift from my old razor, a king Gillette, made it feel a bit to short.in the handle. But after two shaves I like the short and beefy handle. The open comb works really well. I tested the astra blade that's Stirling was so kind to add in my box. The feel good, but might try a more sharp blade next time.
This was my second order from Stirling and just enjoy the process and the feel that you are shopping from real people that leave you a kind note on the order and the small samples or as this case some nice blades.
Keep it going and make it feel local, even here in Missouri and you will have customer for life.
I bought this mainly for the handle since most are way too skinny for me. This made it great! The shave is decent and in my opinion not overly aggressive.
I got this razor with the open comb option and I wish I would have a long time ago! I have shaved with a standard D.E. head razor and bali type handle for years. I heard that the open comb was good for a close shave with one pass. I am surprised that more people don't promote these! Way less irritation with one pass and two for super smooth. . This handle is short in length which promotes using the weight of the razor to shave as opposed to your tendency to push on a long handled one causing irritation. Really pleased with the look and knurling of razor. I also got the aggressive head also just because I was afraid of the open comb but I doubt I will use it since I am so In love with the open comb!!
I recently received this with the mild head. I have used it twice so far and it gives as close a shave with 2 passes as my Henson ALT13 does with 3. I managed to nick my self up a couple of times though and did get some irritation that i do not get with the Henson. Over all i do like using it but i need to get used to the difference in weight and hopefully the nicks and irritation with be reduced.
Needed a new safety razor. After wearing out Mr Lovan's email/ear, yes I'm older still polite. He told me about the aggressive head, (love it). Thanks kindly Mr. Lovan. The handle is a tad heavy , I like the shorter ones, my old one was a bit long. Huge plus made in merica'. Ya'll keep up the outstanding work and customer service!
This razor is exceptionally well made. The knurling is well done and is aggressive enough to get a firm hold on the razor without being sharp or uncomfortable. I enjoy shorter razors and have tried several but the heft and weight with this razor lends to it balancing well in my hand and making for shaving a quick and easy task.
I opted for the aggressive head on my razor and the combination of the short, heavy handle and the aggressive razor makes cutting through thick stubble easy. I have a thicker heavier beard that requires either multiple light passes with an average double head razor which tends to lead me to irritation from making too many passes (I have to have a smooth shave or I will continue making passes until I get the smoothness I desire). The aggressive head is fantastic for me; instead of 4 passes that it would have taken to get a smooth clean shave this razor did it in one full pass and a quick light touch up pass to clean up one or two patches where the grain of my beard swirls.
I am completely happy with this purchase and recommend it to any Double Edge shaver looking for something hefty and well balanced. The finish on the razor is fantastic, the machining it top notch, the weight and balance complement each other especially for this short handle. It is now my daily shaver and I couldn't be happier.
I have big hands and very early in my wet shaving journey. I was getting frustrated with the difficulty I was having in letting the razor do the work because of how light the handles were. That was causing me to press too hard into my skin and the consequences therein weren't good.
This razor has given me hope. The handle fits perfectly in my big paws allowing me the additional control to let the razor do the work it is intended to. The grip on the handle was good for both my left and right hand allowing me to control the razor with less effort. What resulted was one of the nicest shaves I've had.
If this was made in stainless steel I would be in Simpson's 'shut up and take my money' territory. An overall great product.
This razor is great. Aggressive head works well. I was able to get a good shave with just two passes. No irritation afterwards. I liked the thick handle and weight of the razor.
Wow, what a shave I just got with the aggresive plate on this little guy. Effortless, comfortable, and a very efficient 2 pass with a brief clean up pass. Got under the nose easily, I like the slimmer profile of the top cap, the weight is great, and there was plenty of aural feedback for 3 days growth. Astra blade, Stirling MITA soap and aftershave (menthol), SSC fan knot for a face lather, alum block and menthol post shave balm.
A awesome razor just got a shave very agressive Razor and with a Feather blade more agresive , puting all together outstanding ahave., The most Important the service I got from Stirling Soap Company Outstanding servicer , I'm Native from Chicago now living my retirement in San Juan , Puerto Rico , so like I wrote awesome service!!!!!!!
Excellent build quality, the handle is solid steel and well knurled, easy to grip with a wet hand. The razorhead is mirror finish with no scratches in the chrome. Fit and finish is a 9/10 only complaint being the tabs are exposed on the sides. Not a deal breaker but it's the only thing that could be improved. Very good for the price.
Waited until Christmas day to use this amazing razor. Should be nicknamed "the bulldog". Short, stout and moderately aggressive. So, how was my 1st shave? PERFECT!!! Look, I've had a Merkur 34c, Parker 96r, Viking chieftain Jr. and a few other non-mentionable razors, and this by far is the best! I love a short razor with a bit of heft and a good design, so this is perfect for me. Super easy to shave with and great control, used the Stirling razor, Stirling Kong brush, Stirling preshave oil, Stirling vanilla sandalwood soap, along with an alum block and some Sandalwood aftershave. Quite a lovely experience. (DE3P2S) Razor and the Kong brush are 5 star products at a fraction of the price...simply amazing!
Great razor. Lots of heft to the handle, super good knurling. I added an open comb head and really like it. Pairs well with Feather blades for me.
FIrst safety razor I bought
What attracted me is that the handle is locally made CNC in Fort Smith
Its a beautiful handle with a great grip..I've had no trouble holding it while shaving
The weight is perfect and the handle is short so I have great control
The head isn't too mild but isn't overly aggressive..Definitely recommend it for someone just starting out
