I bought this for my father and he uses it every single day for his long beard. The smell lingers but isn't too strong and he mentions how it isn't too greasy for his hair and makes it much more comfortable to upkeep. He recommends it for grizzly beards.

The oil itself is good--lubricates well for pre-shave, and my beard likes it. But the scent is too strong to me and stuck in my beard even after showering and washing my face twice the following day. It'll be great for some people, just not for me. I've ordered the unscented oil, and have been happy with that so far.

I love the scent. People at my work say I smell great and the scent lasts late in the afternoon. Great product.

This is a top quality product. Immediately the scent took me back to my youth and having my heart cut at the local barbershop. The scent was described by Sam the Barberman as "flu flu". It's been 35 or more years since I smelled this scent. Being that I have a large beard I use oil daily and this product is impressively nourishing. I like the weight and shine of the oil.
Best of all both my daughter and wife love the scent. It's a win win. Thank you for bringing back my childhood

I like barbershop scents. Most people do. But I love Stirling Barbershop! I think it's the best barbershop scent I've experienced. It's just great! And I suppose that's why the Barbershop shaving soap has so many sterling reviews. The EDT is awesome too. Every time I wear it, my wife enthusiastically comments on how good I smell. But this is supposed to be a review of the Pre-Shave Oil. What can I say? The excellent performance of Rod's oil formulation combined with his wonderful Barbershop scent is a winner in my book. I like using it no matter what soap I'm shaving with. Not only does it help with the shave, it makes my skin more supple and contributes to an excellent post-shave feel. I like it so well, I even rub a little on my lips when I've finished shaving. Nice!

I don't know what I was thinking 2 years ago when I first started wet shaving and got a sample of Barbershop and didn't like it. I thought it was too musky or something dumb. After a 2 year hiatus from ANY Barbershop scents from ANY company I started looking into it solely based on so many customers reviews praising it's awesome scent. I actually thought to myself "how can so many people love this Barbershop scent and be wrong?". So I jumped in with both feet and went in with high hopes of having my mind changed and bought both this shave oil and a full sized bar of bath soap. Going on faith alone and it paid off! I absolutely love this stuff! I don't pick up any musk, but definitely that subtle powdery smell from a barbers brush he uses to brush off the back of your neck after a cut. Difficult to describe, but it's a strong subtle smell. It's strong in that it lasts all day and is very much there. In fact it lasted on me all the way until the next morning when I woke up to shower for work. That equates to 23 1/2 hours of noticeable scent. It's subtle in that it's not that strong perfume-ish smell like in the ladies section of Sears and it hurts your nose. This is, in almost it's purest form, a clean and respectful men's antique barber chair, red, white & blue striped pole out front, no wifi, powdery brush, blue fluid in that comb holder tube thing, straight razor shave, first name basis, the "usual" hair cut barber shop!
A little goes a long ways, go modest.

The scent is my ideal and as noted in my review of the shave soap, this oil is the perfect pre-pampering before bringing out the soap and blades. It sits well, not heavily on the nostrils. Not cloying, just gentle.
I started with a tester and had to go full-size. It was a must.

Barbershop is the best. I love the scent. It’s so relaxing, yet surprisingly energizing. The pre-shave oil has proven very pleasing to my sensitive skin. I can apply it before lathering my soap, then dampen my face one last time before applying the soap and starting the shave. I typically go for a second pass just to clean everything up a little more, but I don’t need to add more oil for pass two; it makes it through both passes with ease.

I use this as a beard oil, not as preshave. The scent of the oil is great and lasts forever, 100% match with the soap and aftershave.
